how to cook.

never mind that i had designated thursday my go-nowhere-day-and-watch-sexandthecity-episodes, i found myself walking up the hill despite a slight cough. this was due to receiving my first "i'm headed to queen anne come join us" call! which is exciting to me. ONE because the only calls i received around greenlake (for night time) was for the kangaroo & kiwi and TWO because they were headed to "How to Cook a Wolf" which I had been wanting to check out.

i felt as though my palate was not up to par last night, however this is my review:

- prosciutto would have been nice sliced thinner.
-
the egg w/anchovy mayonnaise was not memorable.
+
i did deeply enjoy the seared scallops
+
the salad with mozz/mushrooms was a delight also.

i thoroughly appreciated the company and conversation except when it turned to an inquest on dating situations. so to not really answer their question i decided to tell them about the time i was having some wine with a girlfriend at osteria la spiga and a poor gentleman came up and said he saw me walk in the door and was wondering if he could take me to dinner sometime. i told him his fate was in my girlfriends hands which she made polite conversation until he left. i know we are kind of beotches.... c'est la vie.

5 hours away from here

girlie road trips = supercalifradgilisticexpealidocious

a girlfriend and i set out for eugene this weekend to go visit our dear friend kleep. despite the 5 hour drive in the BLAZING hot sun, we managed to keep ourselves entertained with chatter, girlie mags and lattes in centralia. there i was bemused to find amongst the suburbians (at starbucks of course) a lady throwing some scalding words at the staff. they had made the customer's frappachinos behind her before they made her order. She was appropriately dressed with an LV tucked underneath her arm, huge rock on her finger, summer dress and the sandals of the season. i pondered for a minute if you first get the 'tude then the look or the look then the 'tude...........hmmmm.......anyways...

should you find yourself in the eugene do check out the following in no particular order:

the vintage: delish clams in white vino. fondue, crepes and more....
saturday market: plant starters, cheese, flowers and crafts for blocks upon blocks!
rhododendron festival: don't be fooled by the name, this ain't just for grannies, carnival rides, motorcyclists and car enthusiasts run rampant on this coastal town.
secret house winery: concerts AND wine tasting. their berry dessert wine is berry berry delicious.
oregon coast: white sand beaches and white sand dunes, 'nough said.
pacific dreams: greatest secret B(ed) & B(bq)

love to the kleep and fishie for a weekend well spent.

you win some you dim sum!

so in college i was located pretty darn close to canada. however it seems that i only went to three destinations: robson, granville, gastown. i hadn't even been to stanley park or granville island until a couple years ago! when i go now i try to expand my vancouver experience..... this time i ate my way around....

dim sum in richmond @ kirin - so i know i am totally late on this train and i've only tried one BUT it is the best dim sum i have had. no carts but this stuff was made fresh to go and i would trade that any day. i was disappointed not to see the "terrible asian" drivers but hey maybe i was one of them....

in order to walk off the dim sum we wandered around yaletown during the day, the only place except for the salons that had signs of life was this oysterhouse. after a day of shopping and a little evening freshening up we went to check it out. the atmosphere was boisterous and lively. the food delectable. the wine delightful. whether with a friend or with a date, go and enjoy.

what did make me sad about this trip, was going shopping. instead of feeling like everything was 20% off.... i knew that everything was worth what it said......boo to falling dollar boo on you. *sigh*
